The old
expression goes, “silence is golden”.
Some people
don’t like silence. I’m one of those people.
Even if I’m
working on my sermon or lesson at home, I have to have the TV on because total
silence actually distracts me.
I know
weird, but that’s me.
But today is
actually called silent Saturday.
It is the
day between Good Friday when our Lord and Savior was crucified on that old
rugged cross, and Resurrection Sunday where our glorious Lord rose from the
dead, never to die again.
In the
church silent Saturday is a day of meditation and contemplation.
It is a day
to reflect on the price paid for our salvation. A day to reflect on our future
destiny where we will spend eternity with all other saints and with our Lord
for all eternity.
Revelation 21:1-4 (NASB)
1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.
2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them,
4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away."

This too
will pass.
