I found it a
bit disturbing that our governor had the audacity to take full credit for
things without giving glory to God.
Yesterday during
his daily briefing on the virus and New York, Governor Cuomo stated that the
hospitalizations are falling as are new cases of the covid virus. Good news for
sure.
But then he
said this; “we did this, God did not do this”.
Really? And how
would he know this? Did God have no part in this whatsoever?
With all the
people praying for Gods intervention, did it not occur to the governor to give
God at least some credit?
I am
reminded of a similar situation in the book of Acts
Acts
12:21-23 (ESV)
21 On an appointed day Herod put on his royal robes, took his seat upon the throne, and delivered an oration to them.
22 And the people were shouting, “The voice of a god, and not of a man!”
23 Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last.

For a man
who claims to be a good catholic, I found his comments disturbing but not
necessarily surprising.
I am totally
convinced that God intervenes and answers prayers. That he accomplishes His
will in His time. Sometimes that can be frustrating, but we can never say God
had nothing to do with situations around us.
God is and
has always been in control. I trust Him with my life and the lives of my
family. I am not alone in that trust as can be seen every day.
Gods people
are encouraging, serving and ministering during this time and I am convinced
people will remember those Christian acts of service when this is all over.
Be the
gospel people can see in action. The world may not be reading its bible but it
will certainly see how Gods people react in difficult times.
And at all
times, give God the glory.
This too
will pass
