April 18 Devotion

Trust can be a tricky thing.

You begin by taking perhaps just one step with someone who asks you to trust them. But if you find you really can thrust this individual you venture more steps. Finally, after many steps you find you have taken an entire journey.

In difficult time it is hard to know who you can and cannot trust. Sadly many will let us down and make those times even more difficult.

But there is one we can trust regardless of how difficult the times.

God asks all of us to trust Him regardless of whether we fully understand His timing or not. I have often found myself questioning where is God in my life right now?

This is usually when the times are darkest, and I need Him the most. It is times like this that I have to go to His word for reassurance.

Isaiah 49:16 (ESV)
16  Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me
.

Writing something on ones palms is a Hebrewism for never forgetting something or someone.

God has promised His people that he has written our names upon His palms. God says He will never forget us and that is where the anchor is.

Trust Him in all situations and wait for His perfect timing. God never fails.

Deuteronomy 31:8 (ESV)
8  It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

This too shall pass.
